Mount Foodie isn't built yet — this is a clear look at how we're designing it to work. It starts as a focused daily habit, and opens into something bigger once the basics are second nature.
This page describes our current design, not a finished product.
The daily habit
Mount Foodie is built to live in the gaps around a shift — not to compete with it.
Mount Foodie surfaces the specific menu items, cocktails, and wines you haven't locked in — plus anything new or changed on the menu.
Built for your phone. Use it before a shift, on the commute, or skip it if you already know the menu. The quick check at work is what counts.
What went well, what didn't, and your cashout sheet — so you can actually see how your income and tip performance move over time. If phones stay in the locker during service, cashout is when they come back out.
Two phases of mastery
Phase One covers your restaurant’s menu. Phase Two is your own study time.
Phase One
Your restaurant’s menu, wine list, cocktails and service standards. The restaurant sets the standard, and a quick check during a shift shows who’s met it.
Phase Two
Open study for your own career, at your own pace, with quizzes and streaks if you want them. It lives in your own account and comes with you if you move to another restaurant.
Getting your content in
No one has to rebuild their menu from scratch to use Mount Foodie.
Your menu, recipe book, wine list and cocktail recipes, in PDFs, spreadsheets or Word documents. Someone on your team uploads them, Mount Foodie turns them into lessons and quizzes, and nothing reaches staff until your team approves it.
Post the change to Mount Foodie, and we’ll re-quiz your servers on what changed.
How mastery is tracked
Every session counts toward a mastery picture — not just a completion checkbox.
Illustrative concept — a quiz is required to earn each mastery badge; streaks and badges are the current design, subject to change.
What managers see
Managers see which staff are up to the house standard and who isn’t there yet. They don’t see how long anyone studied or when they logged in.
Friendly competition
Head-to-head challenges between teammates are on the table — but strictly optional. The goal is confidence and mastery, not a leaderboard that makes studying feel like a competition you can lose.
What this isn't
Not a scheduling tool
Not a POS system
Not a replacement for all in-person training
Mount Foodie goes deep — close to a full learning platform for the hospitality skills that belong in an app. But some things are genuinely better taught in person, and we're deliberately leaving those out rather than forcing everything online.
